Last year we had 75 teams and we are expecting just as many this year. We have teams from NV, UT, AZ, OR, WA, CA. Your kids will also get matches. We have a hard luck tournament for kids who are 0-2 and 1-2 on the first day. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

This tournament is definantly gonna happen. We have already reserved the venue. We are setting the final details now and will get info packets out as soon as school wraps up. I have heard from a handful of teams including:
Bradshaw, Blue Ridge, Camp Verde, Cino Valley, Fountain Hills, Glendale, Gilbert, Ironwood, Prescott, Sandra Day O'Connor, Salpointe, and a handful of out of state teams. We are shooting for a 32 team tourney, with the possibility of some sort of JV tourney on one of the days, and possibly a JH tourney on the other day. Should be a good tournament and a great opportunity for wrestlers to get comfortable with the state championship venue.

Looks like the Flowing Wells Invitational will be Jan 18 and 19; and the Diego Gadea Salpointe Invitational will be the following weekend, Jan 25 and 26 . (Always the weekend after Martin Luther King Day). Calendar just fell a little awkward this season.

With ours being later than usual, I've heard teams may reconsider what tournaments they wrestle. If anyone is interested in the Salpointe Invitational, you can reach me at - coach_cruz@msn.com .

Thanks for the praise. The boys are excited for summer work and competition from all over the state. Last year, most boys were able to wrestle 6-10 matches each week and some got more mat time than that. Plus they get an hour of good coaching and drilling.

IF your team is interested, please let us know which night(s) you can make the trip to Yuma.

This tournament is in Sacramento, CA on 5/26/12 (Memorial Day weekend). The weigh in's are Fri 5/25/12. It's listed on TheMat.com's schedule but the flyer can be found on the CaliforniaWrestler.com website. The director has been very helpful answering my questions.

We live in Tucson but I plan to take my daughter. I will fly there unless someone wants to carpool (13 hr drive) and share fuel expenses. Any other Arizona girls going?
